Jump In

Speaker - Ethan Magness

This weeks message centered on the idea that we need to "Just Jump In." God does not call us to live a life of boredom or even safty. God wants us to trust our future in His hands an be willing to take GOD SIZED RISKS and trust that he will see us through. The initial statement to students:

If I live till 45, then I want life to be…
Exciting and not lame
Surprising and not lame
Significant and not lame

In order to fulfill this statement and not "be lame" we must do things that are exciting, surprising, and significant. We must be willing to take a risk and invest ourselves in life. Hebrews 10:39 was a key verse. Below are two versions of the text:

ESV - But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.
Message -But we're not quitters who lose out. Oh, no! We'll stay with it and survive, trusting all the way.

The challenge of the day was to think of the risk God is calling us to make and then go for it. Look for a Godly witness (someone who can be an example of God honoring a risk) and then go for it. Hebrews 12:1-2 was the key text...

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
